• Sandro Perri and special guests The Abramson Singers, Colin Cowan and the Elastic Stars

Toronto-based recording artist Sandro Perri has always existed on the peripheries of popular song. As a songwriter and producer Perri is known for a varied oeuvre that defies simple classification, merging styles, textures, techniques, and sounds.

His latest LP, Impossible Spaces, experiments with song and production beyond any of his efforts to date. It garnered rave reviews in 2012, long-listed for Canada’s Polaris Prize and landing on Pitchfork’s Top 50 of 2011.

Since 1999, he has released over a dozen solo and collaborative records. He founded a 12″ label (Audi Sensa) for his early electronic music but has since worked almost exclusively with Constellation Records.

Join us at The Rickshaw Theatre for a night with this master of contemporary song.

    The Abramson Singers

Singer-songwriter Leah Abramson enlisted her friends in some of Vancouver's best-loved bands (members of Portico, Dan Mangan's band, Headwater) to play folk-noir originals about truck drivers, old maids, the oil sands and Canadian rebel Louis Riel. Now the 6-piece is hard at work on a second album, begun during their artist residency at the Banff Centre with Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire) and Tony Berg (Jakob Dylan).

Colin Cowan & The Elastic Stars

Colin Cowan & The Elastic Stars is the brain child of the gent mentioned in the band's title. This is a new psychedelic folk rock project that started as a result of Colin branching off from his other bands (Analog Bell Service, Vows, White Knife, Tishomingo String Band, Rob Butterfield &The Butterfield Revue, and Dan Mangan). A florescent cup of warm nostalgic soup fit for any contemporary starchild or drifter...
