Rain City Throwdown feat. Quartered, It's Criminal!, Over the Coals, Stand Down
Veterans of the Vancouver music scene, the progressive metal quintet Quartered has put together the 2nd annual RAIN CITY THROWDOWN. With the success of their CD Walks Like A Ghost Quartered has begun writing and recording new material which they hope to unleash on the crowd of RAIN CITY THROWDOWN 2012.
Its Criminal! is a new band of souls rising from the ashes of their former bands Break the Silence (Hopeless/Sub City), Jet Black Stare (Island/Def Jam), Econoline Crush (Reckless, EMI), Stand Down, Goodbye Beatdown and Tenant!
Over the Coals
Over the Coals is a female fronted Vancouver based metal band. After a few member changes the new line up was solidified about a year ago. With Adam and Richard providing powerful guitar riff and harmonies, Max lays down some heavy drum beats and blasts, Ryan rocking the bass, and Susie screaming her face off...this band comes together to provide a very unique west coast sound.
Over the Coals has just recorded a four song EP with Chris "Hollywood" Homes, and will be releasing it very soon.
Giving a paradoxal meaning to their moniker, they mean every note they play, provoking more demand from their hard-rock assembly. As a compiled unit on the forefront of a fresh page, STAND DOWN is prepared to do the work required to deliver, ultimately giving the fans a well-deserved reward for supporting one of Vancouver strongest exports.
Rain City Throwdown is an annual festival held in Vancouver, BC during the summer/fall season. This is the event’s second year and will again be held at the historic Rickshaw Theater. 2011’s show saw Quartered play with Ninjaspy, Out of the Ruins, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and drew approximately 250 concert-goers contributing to a memorable night for each band and every fan that was in attendance.
The goal of Rain City Throwdown is to promote the Vancouver music community, specifically the metal and rock scene. Bands that are participating are currently active in the music community and committed to furthering their careers as musicians. With the number of venues that promote the live music scene becoming fewer and fewer, this event is meant to provide an outlet through which bands can increase their music’s exposure while also supporting the local music scene.
For 2012’s event Quartered will be playing October 13th at the Rickshaw Theater with Its Criminal!, Over The Coals, and Stand Down, all dedicated bands with musicians that have proven themselves playing at the local, national, and international levels over the past several years. Several companies have also signed on and are contributing to making this year’s Rain City Throwdown even more memorable than the last including Jagermeister (2011 sponsor), Granville St. Tattoo, and Millennium Clothing.
Ultimately, the event is to become a multiple day festival supported by larger acts in which local bands have an even larger number of potential fans that otherwise might not have heard their music to share and promote music to.
