Moonspell with Leaves Eyes, Atrocity, Celestial Ruin
Moonspell is a Portuguese black metal/gothic metal/dark metal band with death/doom metal elements, formed in 1989 as Morbid God. After renaming themselves Moonspell in 1992, they released their first EPUnder the Moonspell in 1994, a year before of the release of their first album Wolfheart. The band quickly gained status and became one of the most recognizable metal bands from Portugal.
Gothic metal band Leaves' Eyes was born out of the romantic relationship between singer Liv Kristine Espenæs and guitarist Alexander Krull, who met whilst she was fronting Norway's Theatre of Tragedy and he Germany's Atrocity. The pair eventually married and announced their musical union in 2003, with Espenæs quitting Theatre of Tragedy to join Krull and the rest of Atrocity's lineup (guitarists Thorsten Bauer and Mathias Roderer, bassist Christian Lukhaup, and drummer Nick Barker) to found Leaves' Eyes and record their 2004 debut album, Lovelorn. Along with its next-year successor, Vinland Saga, the record confirmed the new group's affinity for theatrical, symphonic goth-metal, as the leading couple living out the ‘beauty and the beast' vocal roles.
One of Germany’s most successful metal bands, is one of the most experimental and diverse musical acts in the history of metal. They have always found the courage to explore uncharted territories, while delivering top-notch productions. One such production was their full-length release, “Werk 80 II”, which entered the top 20 of the German Media Control Charts.
Vancouver’s Celestial Ruin is a perpetual work in progress. The brainchild of drummer Adam Todd took a number of years to get off the ground due to his tireless search for the right singer. Enter Larissa Dawn, the charismatic blonde wailer that went on to become the face of the band after a YouTube video of a karaoke night made its way to Todd through a mutual friend. It was then that Celestial Ruin was complete. Rounded out by fellow members Yakir Biton (guitars), Mike Dagenais (bass) and Nathan Loflin (keys), the act sprang from a love for symphonic metal in the style of Within Temptation and Nightwish.
