Jinniyah & Drumspyder with featured dancers E-Chan & MIlla

Jinniyah is an intoxicating new project from Gio Makyo, who runs the highly respected Dakini Records Label based in Tokyo, Japan.

Gio has a long list of albums and remixes to his name and has honed a sound that is perfectly suited to tribal belly-dance; measured, percussive, exotic and hypnotic. Jinniyah takes this approach and adds in some of the warmth and womp of bass culture for a blend that is perfect for the Beats Without Borders dancefloor.

Joining Jinniyah on this very limited North American tour are World Class Tribal Belly Dancers E-Chan and Milla who must be seen to be believed! Mere words can not describe the spell they cast with their dancing.

Drumspyder brings a deep love of rhythm, drums, and dance to his distinctive style of electronic fusion. As an expert percussionist specializing in the Mediterranean family of instruments (framedrum, tambourine, and Arabic tabla), he weaves traditional rhythms and contemporary bass sounds into finely sculpted grooves, equally inspirational to the dancefloor and the on-stage performer. A Drumspyder set connects the audience with rhythm in all its modalities - a journey from slo-mo, slinky bass, through mid-tempo funk to high-energy tribal house.

This will be the 4th time that he will be travelling up to Vancouver from his home in Oakland, California for a Beats Without Borders event and we are thrilled to have him back.

Our opening DJ on this night will be Vancouver's very own ElementalRhythm!
He takes his craft seriously and will be preparing his set with the utmost of care and intention. Be sure to arrive early so as to share in the lift off for this event in the way that only ElementalRhythm can provide.

Visuals will be provided by VJ Kinotropoy.
