When animated band Prozzak arrived on the scene in 1998, a Canadian musical phenomenon was born The duo of Simon and Milo were the brainchild of creators Jay Levine and James Bryan McCollum, two members of the critically acclaimed multi-platinum act The PhilosopherKings. Their debut album, “Hotshow”(Sony) followed Simon’s search for love around the globe, set to infectious dance/pop songs. It was a commercial and critical blockbuster, going multi platinum, producing chart topping videos, including 2 Muchmusic number ones (“Sucks to be you”, and “Strange Disease”), as well as being nominated for 5 Juno awards. Prozzak also made an impact internationally, in the US, where the video for “Sucks to be you” charted on MTV2, and had top 40 hits in Spain (“Hotshow”), and Turkey (“Strange Disease”).
In 2000, Prozzak released their second album, “Saturday People”, which also went platinum and was nominated for a Juno award for best pop album. The duo performed on the Juno awards that year, reaching over a million viewers. They also embarked on a national arena headlining tour that year.
Jay and James then took a few years to focus on production work including Fefe Dobson’s platinum debut album(Island/Universal). in 2005 Prozzak released their third album “Cruel Cruel World”, before Jay and James devoted their time to individual projects. James went on to co-write and produce hits for Divine Brown("Old School Love") and Nelly Furtado's Spanish album, Mi Plan which won a 2011 Latin Grammy". Jay moved to New York and then LA to pursue his career as a music executive, while James spent the next 5 years in London, UK, writing and recording with James Blunt, Jessie J, Yuna, Olly Murs and more.
In the summer of 2015, Prozzak performed a sold-out reunion show at the Atomic Lollipop festival in Toronto and the overwhelming fun of the experience inspired Jay and James to “get the band back together”. A new single, "Baby I Need Your Love(Pussy Cat), was premiered on CBC in the fall, and the duo have been working on their new album since then. Summer 2016 finds the duo performing at festivals from NXNE in Toronto to Rifflandia in Victoria, BC, with more touring planned for 2017 once the album is released. Prozzåk is back!
